We reported last week that we would be attending the inaugural Cake and Bake Show at the weekend. The event was incredibly successful, bringing together a host of industry professionals, celebrities and sweet-toothed members of the public to listen, discuss, debate and of course taste the baking world as it is today. Many presentations and demonstrations were on offer, from a sugarcrafting class to the truly astonishing 'Edible Beach'. The marine-themed event displayed many exciting creations: wandering around this world it was very difficult not to spoil the display by rudely grabbing a slice of tasty looking sandcastle or sugar-frosted seaweed. The children's zone was particularly colourful and chaotic, with young people from all over the country enjoying learning the processes and procedures of baking. It was lovely to see their excitement and happiness as they tasted the sweet creations and the area also provided a wealth of educational opportunities, showing children the ancient process of baking and discussing the healthy-eating trend of the current time.
Home baking has experienced a recent resurgence in popularity. This is due to many factors, one of them being the influence of TV baking shows such as The Great British Bake-Off, which attracted a record amount of viewers. Another reason is the economic downturn in the UK and elsewhere: people are realising more and more the importance of money and are becoming more thrifty. Saving an incredible amount of money, home baking also comes with the added security of the baker being exactly sure of just what ingredients have gone into the mix. Home-baked breads and cakes require no preservatives, flavourings or colourings and almost everyone would agree that they taste all the better for it.
When representatives of Bake-O-Glide could manage to tear themselves away from the mouthwatering array of exciting cakes and breads on offer, we maintained a presence in the dedicated 'Supplier Zone', which played host to over a hundred industry professionals such as Neff and Betty Crocker, showcasing our range of exciting baking products. Bake-O-Glide and Gripo products both aroused a lot of interest, and our Truly Scrumptious range of cupcake cases were so popular that people were literally scrambling to grab them. The latest La Cuisine cake-domes/ carriers were also a big hit. By noon on Saturday, our entire stock was depleted and more had to be quickly drafted in; these exclusive products will be available through the website very soon. Overall, our innovative and practical selection wowed the crowds and our stall was very busy for most of the show.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and took part in making the first Cake and Bake Show such a roaring success. No doubt the show will go on to even bigger and better things as it grows; Falcon look excitedly forward to next year's and hope to have a whole new range of state-of-the-art products to showcase, along with our tried, tested and trusted favourites. Please enjoy browsing the rest of our website to find ideas, inspiration and innovation to make your kitchen as good as that of an artisan baker's and do not hesitate to contact a member of our team directly for advice and support.
