The Bake-O-Glide® Original Induction Hob Protector is a flexible, reusable mat that helps protect glass induction hobs from scratches, scuffs and moving cookware while you cook.
Its silicone-coated open mesh allows compatible induction cookware to heat normally and can be carefully trimmed for a closer fit. Choose from three sizes covering two-zone, four-zone and larger induction hobs.
Heat resistant to 250°C. For induction hobs only.
Also available in Edged, Circles, and Solid designs.

Original vs Edged vs Circles vs Solid
All four protectors are built on the same heat-resistant silicone coated fabric. The difference comes down to the edges and the surface, how much spill protection you want on top of everyday scratch protection, and how much of the hob you want covered.

Which Model Suits Your Hob?
- If you want spills kept off the glass and a surface that wipes clean, choose the Solid. It cannot be trimmed and there is no size between 780mm and 1069mm.
- If you want everyday scratch protection that you can trim to fit, choose the Original.
- If your hob is 800, 900 or 920mm wide, is a BORA model, or you want sealed edges beneath heavy cookware, choose the Edged.
- If you cook on only one or two zones and want to leave the controls and the rest of the hob clear, choose the Circles. Areas outside the circles are not protected.
How to Use
Place the Bake-O-Glide® Induction Hob Protector – Original directly onto an induction hob only. This protector is designed to be used while cooking on induction hobs and allows heat to transfer safely while helping to protect the glass surface beneath.

Flexible and Cut to Fit Design
The Original can be trimmed to size if required, which makes it a good fit for unusual hob layouts or tight kitchen spaces. If trimming is needed, use sharp scissors and cut carefully; as with any cut fabric edge, trimming can increase the chance of fraying over time.
It gives everyday protection against scratches, scuffs and pan movement while maintaining the same low-profile design and 250°C heat resistance as the rest of the range.
Because the edges are left open rather than sealed, this version can be trimmed to fit your hob exactly, rather than being limited to the fixed pre-cut sizes of the Edged and Solid versions.
Cleaning & Care
The Original is quick to keep clean. Because it's a lightweight, flexible mesh, there are three simple ways to keep it looking good:
- Everyday wipe: Shake off crumbs or residue, then wipe with warm water, mild washing-up liquid and a soft cloth or sponge.
- Full clean: Remove the protector, rinse under warm water and clean with mild washing-up liquid. Rinse thoroughly and dry before returning it to the hob.
- Deep clean: Soak with a dishwasher tablet in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and air dry.
Allow the hob and protector to cool completely before cleaning.
For longest life, hand wash rather than using a dishwasher, and store the mat rolled or flat.

For Induction Hobs Only
Do not use on ceramic, gas, radiant or solid-plate hobs. If the cooking zone glows red or orange when switched on, it is not an induction hob and this protector is not suitable.
Using this protector on a non-induction hob is misuse and will not be eligible for a replacement.

Can I leave the hob protector on while cooking?
Yes, the Bake-O-Glide® Induction Hob Protector is designed to stay on your hob during cooking. It won't affect the induction cooking process or heat transfer, and is heat resistant to 250°C, giving reliable protection under your cookware.
What's the difference between the Original and Edged protectors?
The Original version offers flexible, cut-to-fit convenience at a lower price point and can be trimmed with scissors to match any hob size. The Edged version features sealed silicone edges that prevent fraying and provide enhanced durability and grip. Both offer the same heat resistance (250°C) and scratch protection.
Will this protector work on ceramic or gas hobs?
No, this protector is only suitable for induction hobs. Ceramic and gas hobs reach temperatures that exceed 250°C, which will cause the silicone coating to melt and the material to disintegrate. This can cause permanent damage to your hob surface. If your hob glows orange or red when heating, it is NOT an induction hob and this product is not compatible.
How do I clean my induction hob protector?
For everyday cleaning, simply rinse under hot water and wipe dry. For deeper cleaning: soak the protector with a dishwasher tablet in boiling water for 15-20 minutes, gently scrub with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. You can use both sides of the protector. Avoid harsh scrubbers and never put it in the dishwasher.
What size do I need for my hob?
We offer 3 sizes for the Original protector: 295 x 520mm (2-ring), 590 x 520mm (4-ring), and 780 x 520mm (5-6 ring). The Original version can be trimmed to size with sharp scissors for a perfect custom fit. Measure your hob surface and select the size closest to your cooking area. Why have white spots appeared on my protector?
White spots indicate the silicone coating has melted due to excessive heat (over 250°C), exposing the white glass fibres underneath. This is typically caused by a hot spot on your pan's base or a faulty thermal breaker in your hob. Stop using that particular pan or consult your hob manufacturer. This issue is not a defect in the protector but indicates cookware or hob problems.
Does the protector prevent scratches from cast iron cookware?
Yes, the Bake-O-Glide® Protector is specifically designed to protect your induction hob from scratches caused by heavy enamelled cast iron pots, casseroles and other rough-bottomed pots. The heat-resistant silicone coating creates a protective barrier between your cookware and the delicate glass surface, keeping your hob looking new even with daily use.

This fits perfectly and looks really nice with the edges, I can see through the fabric so if I did want to use my hob with it on I could see the controls a bit, also gives me extra space to use without worrying about damaging my hob surface.
I don’t actually plan on cooking with it on the hob surface as I want to keep it clean and I just like the look of it - it looks really smart - it sort of glistens in the led kitchen lights.

I love it! My partner would like rings for where you put the pans added and be charged an extra £5. Not that he bought it, so unaware of the actual cost, which was very reasonable I thought!

This is great and protects my hob from scratches.
I have knocked a star off because its not see through so I have to lift it up to make sure the pan is sitting in the correct place and to use the controls, also it has a ‘sticky’ texture which means every little crumb and little bits of things stick to it, but these are not big problems and I prefer to have the protection for the hob. i would recommend this.
