Designed specifically for induction hobs, this protector helps prevent scratches, scuffs, spills, and everyday wear while allowing you to cook as normal. The sealed silicone edging improves grip, reduces movement, and helps prevent fraying for longer lasting protection.
How to use
Place the Bake-O-Glide® Edged Protector directly onto a cool induction hob only.
This protector is designed to be used while cooking on induction hobs and allows heat to transfer safely while protecting the glass surface beneath.

Non-induction use
Using this protector on a non-induction hob is misuse and is not covered by warranty.
Cleaning
Rinse under hot water, wipe clean, and dry. A mild detergent can be used for tougher messes. For longest life, we recommend hand washing rather than using a dishwasher. You can use both sides, and it stores neatly rolled or flat.
For best results and to keep your hob looking like new, many customers also use HG Hob Cleaner Extra Strong, Mr Eco Cellulose Sponge, and Spontex Microfibre Cleaning Pads.
Care
With simple care, your Bake-O-Glide® Edged Protector will last for years of everyday use.
- Do not fold or crease the mat.
- Clean without scrapers or harsh brushes.
- Keep away from open flames or heating elements.
- If any fraying appears, trim carefully with scissors.

These are the most common questions customers ask before buying.
Can I leave the hob protector on while cooking?
Yes, the Bake-O-Glide® Edged Induction Hob Protector is designed to stay on your hob during cooking. It won't affect the induction cooking process or heat transfer. The sealed silicone edges ensure it stays securely in place under your cookware, rated to withstand temperatures up to 250°C.
What's the difference between Edged and Original protectors?
The Edged version features sealed silicone edges that prevent fraying and provide enhanced durability and grip. This makes it ideal for heavy use and prevents the edges from splitting over time. The Original version can be trimmed to custom sizes but doesn't have the reinforced edge protection. Both offer the same heat resistance (250°C) and scratch protection.
Will this protector work on ceramic or gas hobs?
No, this protector is only suitable for induction hobs. Ceramic and gas hobs reach temperatures that exceed 250°C, which will cause the silicone coating to melt and the material to disintegrate. This can cause permanent damage to your hob surface. If your hob glows orange or red when heating, it is NOT an induction hob and this product is not compatible.
How do I clean my induction hob protector?
For everyday cleaning, simply rinse under hot water and wipe dry. For deeper cleaning: soak the protector with a dishwasher tablet in boiling water for 15-20 minutes, gently scrub with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. You can use both sides of the protector. Avoid harsh scrubbers and never put it in the dishwasher.
What size do I need for my hob?
We offer 9 different sizes for the Edged protector ranging from 295 x 520mm (2-ring) to 1069 x 489mm (extra large 5-6 ring). We also offer custom sizes for BORA hobs with centre cutouts. Measure your hob surface and select the size that best matches your cooking area. For bespoke sizes, email bespoke@bakeoglide.kitchen with your dimensions.
Why have white spots appeared on my protector?
White spots indicate the silicone coating has melted due to excessive heat (over 250°C), exposing the white glass fibres underneath. This is typically caused by a hot spot on your pan's base or a faulty thermal breaker in your hob. Stop using that particular pan or consult your hob manufacturer. This issue is not a defect in the protector but indicates cookware or hob problems.
Does the protector prevent scratches from cast iron cookware?
Yes, the Bake-O-Glide® Edged Protector is specifically designed to protect your induction hob from scratches caused by heavy enamelled cast iron pots, casseroles and other rough-bottomed pots. The heat-resistant silicone coating creates a protective barrier between your cookware and the delicate glass surface, while the sealed edges ensure long-lasting durability even with daily heavy use.
